Offering parents complete peace of mind is what FLUX is all about. We want you to know that your child, no matter how big, tall or grown up they think they are, will be safe, well supervised and looked after while they are at FLUX.
However, we know that this is only half the equation, the other half is keeping them entertained and active – and we have that in the bag! We are talking about fun, laughter, friendship and challenging the children and young people to think, move and experience things outside their normal everyday routines. We want all the children and young people that come to FLUX to learn something new every day but in a totally different environment to school. We believe this will help them improve their social skills, personal development and motivation.
Please see the information below which we hope will put your mind at ease; however, should you have any questions, queries or concerns please do not hesitate to call us on: 01895 460 968.

- We believe in the power of mentoring children and young people.
- We believe in good, wholesome food eaten at the table in a social setting.
- We believe in offering real choice whether that is to sit, rest or play.
- We believe in expanding horizons and offering children and young people new and exciting experiences.
- We believe in giving peace of mind to parents through high levels of security, professional supervision and on-hand medically trained staff.
- We believe in integration so that every child and young person is made to feel welcome and involved everyday.

Each child or young person will be assigned to a team leader, who will be responsible for their pastoral care throughout their day at FLUX. They are dynamic individuals who are passionate about working with and ensuring the development of young people.

Team Assistants
FLUX team assistants are recruited from top universities, colleges and existing childcare settings in and around London, many of whom are already studying children and young people focussed courses; be it teaching or play and youth work. Consequently, they are highly motivated individuals who have successfully passed our rigorous selection procedure to make sure that they are the right candidates in helping with the supervision of your child. Attributes they must have include: being patient, kind, caring, fun, adaptable, enthusiastic, approachable, reliable, dynamic and more often than not – LOUD!
All our staff, regardless of their qualification levels, are enrolled in the FLUX training programme prior to working with any children or young people. This intensive training involves: hazard assessment, pastoral care, mentoring, health and safety, basic first aid, fire safety, integration, leadership and anti-bullying. We believe in investing in our team so they value the position of responsibility they hold and pass on these values to the young people they look after. FLUX’s staff are our most important resource; we are committed to their training, development and interests – one of many reasons why we have such a low staff turnover.
With ‘Train to Gain’ and ‘European Social Funding’ (ESF) support, FLUX supports and actively encourages all staff to develop their careers with flexible paths laid out within the company. We employ adults of all ages, including volunteers and part-time workers. For more information Click here.
All of FLUX staff, be it management, team leaders or assistants, are passionate and committed to the children and young people in their care. We believe this is why we are second to none!

SAFETY AND SECURITY
Naturally, the security of all our young charges is at the forefront of everything we do. FLUX will shortly be registered with Ofsted. The local authorities, Ofsted and The Health and Safety Inspectorate regularly inspect the building.
FLUX fully complies with the provisions of the 1989 Children Act that imposes strict regulations for staff to child ratios, staff qualifications and equipment. Our staff are trained in safety procedures – including emergencies, communication plans, off-trip policies and procedures to name but a few – and evaluated on an ongoing basis.
It goes without saying then, that all FLUX staff, including our support staff, such as administration, cleaning and marketing have been checked and cleared with the Criminal Records Bureau.
Furthermore, we have 24-hour professional security onsite at the club’s location at Stockley Academy.
We also abide by and operate under the safety policies and procedures as laid out by Ofsted and 4Children in our daily operations. For full access to these policies and procedures, please contact our club manager at

GOOD FOOD – GREAT COMPANY
Please note that on the week of 11th -15th August 2008 all children should bring a packed lunch. We would also recommend that the chidlren pack some additional snacks for the morning and afternoon break. All chidlren will have access to refreshemetns and juics throughtout the day.
School dinners it ain’t!
At FLUX we believe in eating well and enjoying mealtimes together. As part of our overall commitment to the development and pastoral care of children and young people, we are determined that they should eat healthy. We will provide a full sit down lunch on-site, as well as access to healthy snacks throughout the day. Our daily menus are full of choice (including vegetarian options) and always delicious, fresh and balanced.
We can cater for most food allergies, which should be listed and detailed on your child’s medical form at the time of his or her registration. This should also be highlighted to the club manager or team leader on your child’s first morning with us.

FIRST AID
We have trained First Aiders in Paediatric First Aid on-site at all times.
All children and young people must provide a completed full medical form at the time of registration and booking. This must be submitted to the club prior to attendance. Please be honest and do not feel embarrassed, as long as we are forewarned we are confident that we can handle any situation that may arise. If your child has any ongoing complaints, medical needs or has suffered a recent trauma, such as a death of a loved one etc then please be sure to inform us. It is company policy that the young person in attendance should also notify the Manager of any ongoing ailments, injuries etc at the morning registration.

SUN PROTECTION
In hot weather, staff will encourage all the children and young people to drink plenty of water at frequent intervals. Staff will also ensure that shady areas out of the sun are always available to the children and young people when playing outside.

SHOULD YOUR CHILD REQUIRE MEDICATIONS ON-SITE?
We have a qualified First Aider on site throughout the day. All medication that children bring with them is stored in a secure area and must be recorded on the medical form and handed to the First Aid Team Leader at the time of registration, clearly labelled with instructions. Qualified First Aiders will dispense any medication as determined by an individual’s needs.
Children should know how to take their own medication and when. (See policies and procedures). Any prescribed medication that the child may need on a regular basis (Asthma Inhaler) should be given to the Manager first thing in the morning. Children are not permitted to carry their own medication onsite at any time.
In the event of an emergency, our nearest hospital is in Hillingdon.
Depending on previous medical history we will notify the emergency services immediately. We will need to disclose any necessary confidential information to the ambulance service. We will endeavour to notify you, the parent or guardian, as soon as possible. However, we will attend to any immediate needs of the young individual first. A team leader or manager will go with him / her to the hospital and remain with them at all times.
We believe that all children and young people regardless of race, religion and age are entitled to all the fun, laughter and excitement FLUX has to offer. Furthermore, they should feel safe and secure in their environment at all times.
All of our staff are trained in the art of integration, which means that no child will be excluded or left sitting on the side. We endeavour to encourage and motivate your child to participate unless of course, they choose to rest or go to the supervised chill out zone. For those who wish it, we will have a room available for prayer.
If a pattern develops of a particular child or young person isolating themselves from the group, we will quietly talk to them on an individual basis so as not to make them feel targeted or ostracised. If they are suffering from any personal issues at home, please do let us know – any background information will help us to be more emphatic with the situation and match the right type of mentor for your child. If the pattern persists we will call you, the parent or guardian, to discuss how best to continue. We are committed to ensuring that all children and young people get the most out of their time at FLUX.

EXTENDED HOURS
We accommodate schedules of even the busiest parents. Starting from 8am, you can drop off your child at FLUX Club for our morning Breakfast Club. You don’t even have to worry about feeding them at home, as we’ll provide a full breakfast for them.
What will they do at that time of the morning?
This is a quiet time with books & board games when they can interact with each other and our staff, or catch up on some much needed zz’s before the day starts.
Working late?
Our Supper Club runs from 5:00pm until 6.00pm. We provide a light meal and refreshments during these late extended hours. Again, it’s an opportunity for continued socialisation in a supervised environment, where the choice to sit, rest or play is always the young person’s.
