What if my child is sick?

Unfortunately FLUX cannot admit sick children to our clubs; this is to prevent contagious illnesses from spreading to other children and staff. However, your child may be permitted to attend if you bring a doctor’s note certifying that he / she is no longer contagious. All prescribed medication, along with detailed instructions and signed permission forms (available on-line) should be given to the manager or appointed First Aider before morning registration. If there are any difficulties please arrive early to discuss them with the manager. In the matter of medication there must be clear communication.

What if I need to collect my child early?

That is not a problem, but to comply with our policies and procedures, you must call first to confirm. FLUX will not be able to issue refunds for early collections. If a younger child is to go home by his or her self, we need to have this request in writing.

If a child is to be collected by another person other than that shown on the booking form, written confirmation must be given to the manager in advance.

How does FLUX ensure my child will be healthy and safe?

Our staff are fully trained in the procedures of risk assessment, health and safety and basic first aid. Please help us keep everyone safe, by educating your child that bullying is strictly forbidden. Any young person bringing weapons or drugs onto the premises or starting a fight risks the matter being brought to the attention of the Police and Social Services.

What about children with disabilities?

It is FLUX policy to include every child / young person in every activity feasible, for this reason we ask that parents / guardians share all information regarding their child’s disability. This will allow us to carry out further risk assessments on activities and if necessary bring in specialist care. Please note however, if a solution cannot be met, then we will offer an alternative but equally exciting activity for your child to participate in.

To prepare your child for FLUX, please try to encourage him / her to participate in all programmes available. Do I need to bring anything on the day?

If you have not emailed in your child’s medical form, you must bring it on their first day.

Pack lunch, please ensure that your child has an adequate amount to eat for the day, remember that they will be active for a large portiono of the day and will need plenty of fuel. With that in mind, don't forget some snacks for the morning and afternoon break. However, please note that we do not allow sticky sweets or chewing gum on site. All the children will have access to refreshements: water and juice throughout the day.

Even though this is England, we do on the occasion have sunny weather, so please pack plenty of sun block to prevent any sore red faces. Indeed this is England, so rain is very probable, so a waterproof jacket is always advisable. Upon payment all parents will receive a booking confirmation with a unique booking reference number by email or post. Please ensure you bring this with you on your day of registration as no child can be accepted without it. All children / young people must bring some form of identification, either an original or a photocopy for registration.

What if my child doesn’t know anyone at FLUX?

Many of the children and young people that come to FLUX don’t know anyone in the beginning; this is why we ensure that lots of the activities are group and teamwork related. From our experience children / young people make friends very quickly in this fun and fast moving environment. We want everyone to have a great time and making friends is a huge part of that experience. If your child is shy, please let us know and we will endeavour to keep an extra eye on them. Please tell us anything that you feel may help us, to make your child more comfortable.
